There are currently four wind farms in operation within Benton County. Future development is ongoing.
Benton County Wind Farm
The first wind farm in Indiana! Developed by Orion Energy Group LLC, this farm has 87 turbines with approval for 135 in the Earl Park area.
Fowler Ridge Wind Farm
Located in central Benton County, this project is developed by BP Alternative Energy and will eventually include over 400 turbines.
Hoosier Wind Project
Developed by enXco, this project is located in the northeast corner of Benton County and covers seven square miles in Union and Gilboa townships. It has 53 2.0 megawatt RePower turbines equaling 106 megawatts.
Amazon Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge)
The Amazon Wind Farm Fowler Ridge is a 150 MW wind power project. Pattern Development acquired the project in 2013 and completed the development activites. The project has entered a power purchase agreement with Amazon to supply electricity for the Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) datacenters. Once operational, the Amazon Wind Farm Fowler Ridge will generate electricity equal to the needs of approximately 50,000 homes each year. Compared to coal fired generation, the project will conserve enough water to meet the annual needs of 8,000 people.
