Benton County is located in north central Indiana, situated half-way between Indianapolis and Chicago on the Illinois State Line. Our County is over 90 percent agriculture and is one of Indiana’s top agriculture communities thanks to our rich, high-yielding soil. We may be known for our wide open spaces, rich farm ground and traditional farming, however in 2008 we welcomed the future and became known as the "Home of Indiana's FIRST wind farm."

The Oxford Lions Club has made arrangements to secure emergency disaster relief funding from the Lions Club International Foundation in order to assist families in need. Please note the following:

At the Federated Church in Oxford, hot lunches will be served in addition to those already being served to senior citizens. If you or someone you know will be coming for lunch, please drop us a line using the contact information listed above so we know how many to prepare for.
In addition, the Oxford Lions Club will be serving a hot meal at 6:00pm free of charge Tuesday through Friday evenings at the Lions Den (located at 708 N 5th St in Oxford).
Our motto is "We Serve" and that's exactly what we intend to do! Please help us spread the word to those who may be most in need of assistance during this difficult time in our community.

Tuesday: Lasagna, Garlic Bread and Salad
Wednesday: Pulled Pork and potato goodie
Thursday: Spaghetti, garlice bread and salad

2 towns in Benton County have received grants from the Community Development Block Grant program's Community Focus Fund. (CFF) The CFF aims to assist smaller Hoosier cities and towns with long-term community development initiatives. The Town of Fowler was awarded $500,000.00 to assist in the construction of a new water treatment facility. The current form of the GED exam will expire January 1, 2014. In the State of Indiana the new exam will be the TASC (test assessing secondary completeion). Classes to help students prepare will remain the same. 2 classes are currently being offered in Benton County. Tues./Thurs. 12:30-3:30 at the Benton County Public Library and evening classes 4:30-7:30 at the Community Action Building in Oxford. (105 South Howard St).
