Benton County is located in north central Indiana, situated half-way between Indianapolis and Chicago on the Illinois State Line. Our County is over 90 percent agriculture and is one of Indiana’s top agriculture communities thanks to our rich, high-yielding soil. We may be known for our wide open spaces, rich farm ground and traditional farming, however in 2008 we welcomed the future and became known as the "Home of Indiana's FIRST wind farm."

We would like to congratulate our Economic Development Director, Kelly Kepner on being selected a 2014 Hoosier Hospitality Award winner for her work creating and promoting the Wind Farm Tourism Center. Each year, the Lt. Governor recognizes top front line hospitality employees for their dedication to the tourism and hospitality industry. Kelly will travel to the Indiana State Fairgrounds in August to receive her award.

Indiana Farm Bureau Young Farmer Program is designed for farmers and farm enthusiasts who are 18-35 yrs old. The Young Farmer Programs help prepare younger generation farmers for future leadership roles in Farm Bureau, government and the community. To learn more, view the 2014 brochure here.
The Purdue Extension Office in Benton County is now a distributing agency for the Indiana Safe Sleep Program. The program provides safe sleep education and cribs to families in need of a crib for their baby. There is no income criteria, however they must currently have no safe place for their baby to sleep and no other resources to acquire a safe place for them to sleep. Anyone in need can contact Kelsie Muller or Linda Klemme at the BC Extension office, 884-0140.

Indiana enacted the largest state tax cut in Indiana history~more than $600 million a year. With a combination of income tax relief, inheritance tax repeal and other reductions, Indiana is the only state in the country to achieve more than $1 billion in tax cuts over the next 2 years.
Property Tax Relief cut property taxes by 1/3, and capped property taxes.
On February 1, 2012 Indiana enacted a right to work bill into law.
